The public is invited to join our
LWVLC Community Book Discussions
The League of Women Voters Book Club is dedicated to reading and discussing works of nonfiction pertinent to the pressing issues of our day. The book discussions are open to the public and are scheduled on a rotating basis at libraries across Livingston County, alternating daytime and evening hours in an effort to be accessible to a range of county residents.
Topics we explore include race, class, gender, debt, work, the environment, politics, technology and media, imperialism, post-colonialism, activism, culture, and aesthetics. We want to become more informed, engaged, and connected to both each other and society at large. We want this Book Club to be a safe space to discuss complex topics.
Please be mindful of the following:
- Respect other’s opinions: all opinions are welcome. You can disagree with someone, but always do so respectfully.
- Ask questions.
- Avoid personal attacks.
- And keep an open mind.
- Don’t interrupt or dominate the discussion. Please allow everyone to participate; we want to hear your opinion, and everyone else’s.
Please refrain from disclosing your political party affiliation; this is a nonpartisan discussion group.
