Customers at MI Sec. of State branch offices for driver's licenses and personal ID cards (PID) who are eligible will be automatically registered to vote unless the person opts out. Branch office staff will verify eligibility during the DL transaction.
More than 15 days before the election? You may register in person at at MI Sec. of State offices or Online on the Secretary of State Website.
14 or fewer days before the election? Registration must be in person at a Sec. of State Office or your Local Clerk's Office. If you register within 14 days of Election Day, you must show proof of where you live. Documents must have your name and current address. You can show a digital copy of documents. Acceptable documents include:
- Michigan driver’s license or state ID
- Current utility bill
- Bank statement
- Paycheck or government check
- Other government document"

College students can register with home or school as their address, but it must match the driver's license. If it doesn't the driver's license will automatically be changed to match your voter registration address.
